About the Taskforce
Our vision and objectives
The Taskforce vision is to ensure that every school and college
has an effective partnership with employers to provide its young
people with the inspiration, motivation, knowledge, skills and
opportunities they need to help them achieve their potential and so
to secure the UK's future prosperity.
In practice, effective partnerships take many forms and the
Taskforce recognises the important role of local relationships and
the local organisations which facilitate links between the worlds
of education and employment. Everyone has a part to play in making
our vision a reality. To work towards this vision alongside
national and local partners the Taskforce has set itself the
following specific objectives:
- To help ensure that all young people achieve their potential
through school and further education and training gain the relevant
skills, knowledge, aspirations and motivation to engage in further
learning and enter the workforce with the attributes employers
require.
- To provide clarity, simplicity and efficiency in linking
education and employers
- To support schools and colleges in inspiring, guiding and
motivating young people about the world of work
- To inspire and motivate employers through working with schools
and colleges to:
- provide all young people with first-hand knowledge and
experiences through high quality work-related activities and
curriculum enrichment
- raise young people's confidence and aspirations
- provide additional support to schools which operate in
particularly challenging circumstances
- ensure that young people are enabled to make better informed
choices about their career options
The work of the Taskforce is undertaken through four streams
which, working with partners, aim to:
- Understand current activities and develop the case for
engagement
- Make the existing system better through collaboration &
coordination
- Undertake discrete projects to improve effectiveness of
partnership
- Inspire employers and schools and colleges to work
together
