Barbara Hearn OBE
Established in 1963, the National Children's Bureau is a
registered charity dedicated to advancing the health and well-being
of all children and young people across every aspect of their
lives.
Deputy Chief Executive
Barbara Hearn is deputy chief executive of the
Research, Evidence and Evaluation Division at NCB. Her current
management responsibilities within NCB include early years,
NCB Northern Ireland, participation of children and young people
including NCB's young people's membership programme YNCB and NCB's
involvement in Participation Works research and evaluation. She
carries overall responsibility for the policy work across NCB.
She has qualifications in business management, social work and
marketing and has acted as business advisor to a number of small
companies. She has a background in social work practice and
management, having worked in local authorities for 14 years and for
the National Institute for Social Work. She has been a
non-executive director of both a Health Trust and a Health
Authority, as well as a school governor.
