Steve Acklam
SGOSS is a small independent charity dedicated to recruiting
school governors, the local volunteers who form a key part of the
legal responsibility, accountability and support and challenge to
local schools.
Chief Executive
Steve Acklam joined Procter and Gamble after university, moving
subsequently to Carr's Biscuits and eventually United Biscuits. At
United Biscuits, Steve worked in Sales, Sales Training, Marketing,
Trade Marketing, Business Planning, Project Management and Export.
Between 1986 and 1991 he was Export Sales and Marketing Director
with a world wide remit and a team generating over £50m of sales
per year.
Steve initially joined the London Enterprise Agency in 1998 on
secondment, and was then invited to set up and lead the School
Governors' One-Stop Shop. He has been Chief Executive of the
Charity since that time. He is a member of the Marketing Society
and the Institute of Directors, and a Fellow of the Chartered
Institute of Management.
