Inspiring Governance reappointed by the Department for Education to provide governor recruitment services

We are delighted to confirm that the Education and Employers charity will continue to provide governor recruitment services to schools and academies, following our reappointment by the Department for Education.

The service enables schools to access a wide range of skilled volunteers from diverse backgrounds who are committed to making a difference.

Our charity will be providing an even greater focus on supporting those schools and academies that have been rated ‘requires improvement’ or ‘inadequate’ at their last Ofsted inspection, to find the skilled governors they need.

We will also be providing extra support to schools in coastal and rural areas where we know governor recruitment remains a challenge.

Nick Chambers, Chief Executive of Education and Employers, said:

“We are delighted to be able to continue our work in supporting schools and trusts with governor recruitment. Our free service is available to all schools but we will be providing additional support to those with the greatest needs.”

In addition to working with our wide range of valued partners and existing School Governor Champions, we are keen to speak to more employers and professional networks who want to promote the role of governor to their staff or members.

The role provides a great opportunity to improve the life chances of the next generation of employees and ensure young people get the very best start in life, as well as providing CPD opportunities for volunteers.
