The fourth bulletin from the Edge Foundation reports on the current and future state of the UK labour market. This publication features Education and Employers, the Edge Foundation and the NEU’s recent report ‘Joint Dialogue: How are schools developing real employability skills?’, which identified eight skills and four competencies employers most wanted from young candidates coming through their doors. The report also asked teachers where young people are being supported to develop these skills and how the narrowing curriculum and increased exam-focus has impacted on young people’s skill development.

The bulletin also examines the current state of the labour market through the CIPD’s ‘Over-skilled and Underused’ report, the RSA and the World Economic Forum’s perspectives on the future of work, and finally the Edge Foundation’s investigation and case study on labour shortages and growth in the UK hospitality sector.
